JAZZ FOR THE SOUL: Beth Lederman Jazz Con Alma

September 22 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join us for the Jazz for the Soul Season Opener featuring JAZZ con ALMA with Beth Lederman on piano, Frank Valdes on percussion, John Murray on bass, Todd Chuba on drums, and Adam Roberts on tenor sax.

Translating as “Jazz with Soul” or “Jazz with Spirit,” Beth Lederman and Jazz Con Alma provide just that. With an emphasis on Latin jazz, the group ranges from traditional to contemporary music with the spirit of improvisation and the love of jazz always intact. Jazz that is easy to listen to, but doesn’t compromise the integrity and creativity that make this music celebrated as America’s own unique art form. Mix in the rhythms of samba, salsa, swing, bossa-nova, cha-cha, add some of Phoenix’s finest musicians, shake well, and serve for a memorable evening of music!

Beth Lederman: Known for her sophisticated jazz and Brazilian-Latin styles, Beth has played professionally for over 30 years, leading groups like Jazz Con Alma and Novo Mundo, and performing with artists such as The Diamonds and Bobbie Vinton.

Adam Roberts: A versatile tenor saxophonist and educator, Adam performs across jazz, rock, funk, and classical genres. He teaches at Chandler Gilbert Community College and holds three music degrees, including a Master’s from the New England Conservatory.

John Murray: After 19 years in Southern California, John returned to Phoenix, teaching and performing in jazz ensembles. With degrees from Arizona State University, he has held various teaching positions and regularly performs in jazz communities.

Frank Valdes: A percussionist with 26 years of experience, Frank tours with bands like the Machito Orchestra and the Richie Cecere Orchestra.

Todd Chuba: With over 35 years as a professional drummer, Todd has recorded and toured internationally with artists like Nils Lofgren and Stevie Nicks.

Experience jazz with soul as JAZZ con ALMA brings their passion and artistry to the stage for a memorable evening of music!
