ABOUT THE ARTIST
Eric Rasmussen is a renowned alto saxophonist, composer, and educator based in New York City. Rasmussen is commended in his efforts to preserve and evolve Lennie Tristano’s free-flowing pedagogy in improvisation, form, and technique. He has performed and recorded with an array of leading jazz artists and is a longtime collaborator with SteepleChase Records, an internationally acclaimed jazz label based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
A frequent presence on both coasts, Rasmussen also contributes to the next generation of jazz talent as an educator, balancing tradition and forward-thinking. His ongoing School of Tristano recording series highlights his dedication to exploring this rich musical legacy with modern clarity and originality. His latest volume— recorded in Ravenscroft Studios— continues this journey, showcasing his NYC quartet’s lively swing and deep artistic vision.
