Get ready for an evening of captivating melodies and vibrant rhythms with the Eric Rasmussen Quartet. Saxophonist and Composer Eric Rasmussen brings a wealth of experience to the stage, having honed his craft in some of the most vibrant jazz scenes across the globe. After a decade of leaving his mark on the New York City jazz community and enchanting audiences throughout Europe, Eric relocated to the Phoenix area in 2007, bringing his unique blend of original compositions and innovative interpretations of jazz classics.
A true maestro of his craft, Eric earned his Masters of Music degree in Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory in Boston, studying under esteemed mentors such as Jerry Bergonzi, George Garzone, Danilo Perez, and Paul Bley. His journey in jazz began at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, where he received his BFA in Jazz Performance under the guidance of luminaries like Charlie Haden, Joe Labarbera, and Roscoe Mitchell.
With his groups Guaranteed Swahili and the Eric Rasmussen Tristano Band, Eric has graced stages across the United States, sharing his passion for jazz with audiences far and wide. As an educator, Eric’s expertise shines through in his role as Director of Instrumental Music at Scottsdale Community College, where he continues to inspire the next generation of jazz musicians. Whether leading his own ensemble or collaborating as a sideman with jazz legends like Paul Bley and Danilo Perez, Eric’s performances are nothing short of extraordinary, leaving an indelible mark on jazz aficionados everywhere.
