Jazzbird Nights: Matt Lennex and the Giants of Jazz

Matt Lennex and the Giants of Jazz make their Ravenscroft debut following a string of sold-out performances across the Valley. Led by 6’9” trombonist Matt Lennex, this powerhouse ensemble lives up to its name—bringing together some of the finest musicians in the Phoenix jazz scene for an unforgettable night of big sound and bold energy. For this special performance, the Giants are joined by guest artist Tony Baker, acclaimed trombonist and Professor of Trombone at the University of North Texas.

Lennex, a Phoenix-based trombonist and educator, has performed with the World-Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, and the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, as well as local favorites like Adam Roberts’ Wicked Children, the Nash Composers Collective, and Corner Pocket. Baker, an internationally recognized performer, has shared the stage with legends including Wynton Marsalis, Steve Turre, and John Fedchock, and has been featured at premier jazz events around the world. Together, Lennex and Baker promise an evening of vibrant swing, virtuosic solos, and world-class jazz.
