ABOUT THE ARTIST
Paul Cornish is a Los Angeles–based pianist, composer, and bandleader recognized as one of the rising voices in contemporary jazz. Originally from Houston, Texas, he began studying piano at the age of five and later attended the renowned High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, a school known for producing influential jazz artists such as Robert Glasper and Jason Moran. Cornish went on to study at the University of Southern California and later became one of only a select few musicians chosen for the prestigious Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Performance at UCLA.
In recent years, Cornish has gained widespread attention for his work as both a performer and recording artist, collaborating with musicians across jazz, pop, and experimental music, including Joshua Redman, Terrace Martin, HAIM, and Kanye West. His debut Blue Note Records album, You’re Exaggerating!, established him as a fresh and innovative voice in jazz piano, praised for its lyrical depth and modern rhythmic sensibility. In addition to performing internationally, Cornish is also active as an educator and mentor, continuing to shape the next generation of jazz musicians while building a rapidly growing career as a composer and artist.
