VJC WINTER PERFORMANCE
The Valley Jazz Cooperative’s three student ensembles present their Winter Performance in Ravenscroft Hall. This matinee event is the opening VJC concert of the year. Appearing on the program are Cerulean and Indigo, led by Russell Schmidt, and Sapphire, under the direction of Paul Brewer. VJC groups typically perform a mix of repertoire by historically significant composers such as Duke Ellington, Bill Holman, and Mary Lou Williams, and works by modern-day writers including Alan Baylock, Dave Rivello, and Maria Schneider.
The Valley Jazz Cooperative was founded in 2016 as an educational outreach of MSW Ministries. Instruction is focused on expanding the creativity of VJC members by developing improvisation skills and learning the unique language of jazz. The program is offered free of charge to eligible, committed, passionate music students (grades 8-12).
Lobby doors open at 2:00 p.m., and Ravenscroft Hall doors open at 2:40 p.m. (following a soundcheck by the students). No food or drink is permitted inside Ravenscroft Hall. Please note that parking is free and abundant on-site at Ravenscroft.
Cost for this event is $10.00 (adults) & $5.00 (for students). Parking is free and abundant on-site at Ravenscroft. Get your tickets now and support these outstanding, creative young people at the VJC Winter Performance!
