Bob Sheppard is a sort of jazz Clark Kent, whose mild manner and bespectacled, studious appearance conceal an enormous, versatile super talent. That artistry will be unmasked in all its glory in this concert for Lakeshore Music at Ravenscroft.
For more than four decades, the saxophonist, who also is proficient on several other instruments, has played countless sessions with an astounding array of A-list jazz giants, among them Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and Dianne Reeves, and with big-name artists of other genres.
He found gigs accompanying Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., the 5th Dimension and a steady spot with Chuck Mangione’s orchestra. He also has played with Joni Mitchell, Steely Dan, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, Queen Latifah, Elvis Costello, Natalie Cole, Randy Newman, Rickie Lee Jones and Boz Scaggs. He got those calls due mostly to his improvisational and interpretive abilities, and, of course, his unique sound.
Sheppard has recorded, toured and contributed to hundreds of movie and TV soundtracks.
