Delphine Cortez, a renowned vocalist, launched her career in Chicago’s top jazz clubs before becoming a sought-after artist in the Greater Phoenix market in the mid-80s. With extensive engagements at venues like The Boojum Tree and appearances at concerts and festivals, Delphine is a charter member of the Divas Show, performing annually at The Kerr Cultural Center since 2001. Inspired by jazz legends like Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald, Delphine possesses a distinctive style marked by captivating grace and creativity, showcasing remarkable scat chops and improvisational lyric composition. Praised by international jazz journalist Patricia Myers for her unique possession of each song, Delphine’s warm and passionate voice with impressive depth and range sets her apart.
Equally comfortable in intimate settings or major venues, Delphine’s extensive repertoire covers standards from The Great American Songbook, bossa novas, and unique renditions of pop tunes by artists like Dusty Springfield and The Beatles. Known for her spontaneity and ability to read audiences in real time, Delphine brings musicality, personality, and passion to every performance, making each one a memorable experience for her audience.
