Valley Jazz Cooperative Spring Performance
The Valley Jazz Cooperative’s Indigo and Cerulean Big Bands present their Spring Performance in Ravenscroft Hall on Saturday, April 6th at 7pm.
Both ensembles are directed by VJC Founder Russell Schmidt. VJC student groups typically perform a wide variety of repertoire, mixing selections from historically significant composers such as Benny Carter, Bill Holman, Melba Liston, and Billy Strayhorn, with works by modern-day writers including Vince Mendoza, Scott Ninmer, Dave Rivello, and Jueun Seok.
The Valley Jazz Cooperative was founded in 2016 and is an educational outreach of MSW Ministries. Instruction is focused on expanding the creativity of VJC members by developing improvisation skills and learning the language of jazz. The program is offered free of charge to eligible, committed, passionate music students (grades 8-12).
Lobby doors open at 6:00 p.m., and Ravenscroft Hall doors open at 6:40 p.m. (following a soundcheck by the students). No food or drink is permitted inside Ravenscroft Hall. Please note that parking is free and abundant on-site at Ravenscroft.
Cost for this event is $10.00 (adults) and $5.00 (students). We hope to see you there!
