About the artists…
Corcoran Holt is a NYC bassist with roots in Washington, DC. Holt has performed with many of the world’s greatest jazz legends and musicians, touring North, Central, and Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. He regularly appears at The Village Vanguard, The Bluenote, and Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola. He received a Grammy nomination for “Pushing the World Away.” Holt is the regular bassist for the Kenny Garrett Quintet and leads his own group. He serves as a djembe drummer/music therapist at Greater Harlem Nursing and Rehab Center, where he plays for his elders.
Michael Kocour is a renowned jazz pianist, organist, composer, and Director of Jazz Studies at Arizona State University. He has performed globally with legends like Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Lovano, and Benny Golson, and appeared on Marion McPartland’s NPR program “Piano Jazz.” With six acclaimed CDs and contributions to film soundtracks, Kocour’s artistry is praised for its creativity and technical brilliance.
Jeff Libman is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Jazz Studies at ASU. Jazz Journal celebrates him as “a sensitive guitarist with a graceful, melodic turn to his flowing improvisations.” His album Strange Beauty earned critical acclaim, and he actively supports Phoenix’s jazz community as Vice President of The Nash. Recognized as an Arts Hero in 2018, Libman regularly performs with Arizona’s finest musicians.
Phoenix-based drummer and educator Robby Carrillo has been active in jazz since age 16. Carrillo received a Jazzbird scholarship and studied jazz performance and composition at ASU under Mike Kocour and Dom Moio. He’s performed with Joe Lovano and opened for Benny Golson at the Jazz Showcase in Chicago. Carrillo teaches at Mesa Community College and
Arizona Christian University. He’s a highly respected and sought-after drummer in the studio and around the local jazz scene.
