ABOUT THE ARTIST

Ben Hedquist is a highly respected bassist, composer, and educator whose deep musicality and versatility have made him a mainstay of the Phoenix jazz scene. Known for his expressive playing and strong collaborative spirit, Hedquist has performed with both top local talent—including Michael Kocour, Dom Moio, and Eric Rasmussen—and internationally acclaimed artists such as Miguel Zenón, Peter Bernstein, and Lewis Nash. Beyond the stage, he is a dedicated educator who has taught at institutions across the Valley and currently serves as Director of Jazz and Popular Music Studies at Glendale Community College. Whether performing or teaching, Hedquist brings passion, precision, and a love for the jazz tradition to everything he does.
