Friday, June 7th, at 7:00pm, Jazzbird welcomes the Natalie Gallatin Quintet. Featured artists include Natalie Gallatin– Saxophone, Arsen Nalbandian– Piano, Ray Lebert– Guitar, Ben Hedquist– Bass, and Lewis Nash– Drums.
Natalie is a saxophonist, composer, bandleader, educator, recording artist, and activist based in Phoenix, Arizona. She is a 21st century torch-bearer for the performance, education, and re-evaluation of the rich heritage of jazz music.
Her journey as a jazz musician blossomed during her tenure at Arizona State University’s esteemed music school, where she earned both undergraduate degrees in jazz performance and music education before completing a Masters in jazz performance. As part of the Ravenscroft Resident Artist Program at ASU, Natalie had the privilege of collaborating with luminaries such as Roxy Coss, Rufus Reid, Jason Palmer, and Wycliffe Gordon, honing her craft and enriching her musical perspective.
Natalie is very excited to share the stage with friends and mentors to showcase a night of her original compositions. She’ll be bringing compositions from her album, Noodles, as well as some newer compositions that have yet to be recorded.
