Jazzbird Nights: Raúl Yañez and Zona Libre

May 31 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Friday, May 31st, at 7:00pm, Jazzbird welcomes Raúl Yañez and Zona Libre. Featured artists include Raúl Yañez– Piano, Xavier YañezBass, Tony ValenzuelaCongas, and Adam ClarkDrums.

Join us for a wonderful evening with Raúl Yañez and Zona Libre, a dynamic ensemble led by the talented pianist and educator Raúl Yañez. Born and raised in Silver City, New Mexico, Raul’s musical journey began at the age of four, when he embarked on a classical piano training that would eventually lead him to fall deeply in love with jazz.

After earning his Masters in Music Education with a focus on jazz from Arizona State University, Raul has dedicated over two decades to teaching and mentoring aspiring musicians, both at the collegiate level and as a guest artist at various institutions across the globe. His passion for music has taken him to stages in Hong Kong, Singapore, Jakarta, Japan, Thailand, Mexico, Portugal, and numerous cities throughout the United States.

As a versatile pianist, Raúl has graced the stage with esteemed orchestras such as the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and the ASU Orchestra. He has also shared the spotlight with renowned artists including George Benson, Tito Puente Jr., and Sister Sledge, among others. Notably, his collaboration with DJ Radar led to the creation of the groundbreaking Concerto for Turntable, a masterpiece that has resonated with audiences worldwide, even earning prestigious performances at Carnegie Hall.

Now, alongside his long-time bandmates and dear friends in Zona Libre, Yañez invites you to immerse yourself in an evening of Latin Jazz fusion. From the infectious rhythms of Mambo and Salsa to the soulful melodies of Bolero and Samba, experience the vibrant energy and rich diversity of Latin music as interpreted by this exceptional ensemble. Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate the intersection of jazz and Latin rhythms with Raúl Yañez and Zona Libre.

Experience an evening filled with wonderful jazz and choose from a fine selection of wine, craft beers, and catered dinner options for purchase.
