Friday, June 13th, at 7:00pm, Jazzbird welcomes The Music of Oscar Peterson with the Josh Condon Quartet! Featured artists include Josh Condon– Piano, Stan Sorenson– Guitar, Chris Finet– Bass, and Dom Moio– Drums.
The Josh Condon Quartet celebrates the 100th birthday of the legendary jazz pianist Oscar Peterson in a special performance highlighting his original music. Hailed as one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time, Peterson’s pianistic mastery and musical creativity dazzled audiences around the world in a career that lasted over 60 years. His own original music, rarely performed, reflects this unique style – from hard-swinging blues to pensive, restrained ballads.
Josh Condon and his quartet have performed to sold out crowds in local venues such as Arizona Musicfest and The Nash Jazz Club. In addition to being a crossover pianist in the genres of both classical and jazz, Josh is frequently seen in the valley as a conductor for choirs, musical theatre productions, and symphony orchestras. Before coming to Arizona, he was a music director and pianist for the Norwegian, Celebrity, and Princess cruise lines, where he collaborated with numerous West End and Broadway performers. Joining Josh for this performance will feature some of Phoenix’s finest jazz musicians: guitarist Stan Sorenson, bassist Chris Finet, and drummer Dom Moio.
