Music needs a term for this. What do you call one person who is a pianist, vocalist, keyboardist, composer, producer, arranger, band leader, sideman and more? Music may not have a term, but it does have a name: Rachel Eckroth.
Rachel Eckroth, a versatile recording artist known for her jazz-pop fusion, leads the collaborative masterpiece ‘Humanoid’ alongside guitarist Andrew Renfroe, bassist Billy Mohler, and drummer Tina Raymond. Eckroth, with a discography spanning 20 albums, recently released ‘The Garden’ and showcased her captivating stage presence opening for Rufus Wainwright. Beyond her TV appearances, she collaborated with saxophonist Donny McCaslin in 2020 and released singles, including “Moot Points” in 2021. Renfroe’s unique sound, blending Delta Blues to West African influences, adds depth, while Mohler’s jazz bass proficiency, honed at Berklee and under jazz legends, contributes to the ensemble’s richness. Raymond, a renowned drummer, infuses the project with her eclectic percussion techniques and diverse influences.
Together, Rachel Eckroth, Andrew Renfroe, Billy Mohler, and Tina Raymond bring their immense talents to the forefront, creating a collaborative masterpiece with their album ‘Humanoid.’ With their diverse backgrounds and exceptional skills, they showcase the true essence of musical innovation and creativity.
