RAVENSCROFT JAZZ SERIES – Bill Charlap Trio
Grammy Award-winning pianist Bill Charlap has performed with many of the leading artists of our time and has recorded albums featuring the music of Hoagy Carmichael, Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers and Duke Ellington. Charlap’s collaboration with Tony Bennett on The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern won the 2016 Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
We are thrilled to present Charlap and his trio, bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington, at Ravenscroft. The group, which has been together nearly a quarter-century, has earned multiple Grammy nominations. They recently recorded with Bennett and Diana Krall on the chart-topping Grammy nominated Love is Here to Stay.
Charlap also produces concerts for Jazz at Lincoln Center, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Chicago Symphony Center and Hollywood Bowl. He is director of jazz studies at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. Charlap and his wife, noted jazz pianist Renee Rosnes, also record together.
Ravenscroft doors will open at 6:00pm. Concert Hall doors will open at 7:00pm.
