ABOUT THE ARTIST
Corcoran Holt is a highly accomplished bassist, composer, and educator whose career has placed him among the most respected jazz musicians of his generation. Originally from Washington, D.C., he began studying upright bass at a young age and went on to receive formal training at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Shenandoah Conservatory, and Queens College in New York. Over the course of nearly two decades in New York City, he became an in-demand performer, collaborating with jazz legends such as Kenny Garrett, Benny Golson, Jimmy Heath, and Wycliffe Gordon.
In addition to his performance career, Holt is a dedicated educator and currently serves as Assistant Professor of Jazz Bass at Arizona State University. He has released original music, including his debut album The Mecca and his more recent project Freedom of Art, which reflects themes of personal growth, family, and artistic evolution. A Grammy-nominated recording artist and former U.S. Jazz Ambassador, Holt continues to shape the future of jazz through both his performances and his commitment to mentoring the next generation of musicians.
