ABOUT THE ARTIST
Raúl Yáñez is an accomplished pianist, composer, and educator whose musical journey began at an early age with classical piano training before evolving into a deep passion for jazz. Born in Silver City, New Mexico, he later earned a master’s degree in Music Education with a focus on jazz from Arizona State University, where he now serves as an instructor in the School of Music, Dance and Theatre. Over the course of his career, he has dedicated more than two decades to teaching and mentoring emerging musicians while continuing to perform at a high level.
In addition to his work in education, Yáñez has built an impressive performance career, collaborating with renowned artists such as George Benson, Tito Puente Jr., Sister Sledge, Jimmy Smith, and Joey DeFrancesco. He is also known for innovative projects like the Concerto for Turntable, which blends classical and modern elements in a groundbreaking way. With international touring experience and a reputation for versatility and creativity, Yáñez continues to be a prominent figure in both the jazz and Latin music scenes.
