Friday, November 17th at 7:00 pm, Ravenscroft welcomes The Beth Lederman Trio Featuring Steven Powell to the Jazzbird stage. Featured artists include Steven Powell–Vocals, Beth Lederman–Piano, Feliz Sainz–Bass, and Connor Sample–Drums.
This band mixes the playful creativity and integrity found at the heart of jazz with standards, Latin rhythms, and good solid grooves. Joining Beth Lederman on keyboards will be her long-time collaborators Steven Powell on vocals, Felix Sainz on bass and vocals, and Connor Sample on drums.
Beth Lederman is well-known for her sophisticated jazz and rhythmic Brazilian and Latin-jazz piano styles, not only in the Phoenix area, but throughout the Western U.S. from Canada to Mexico. She has been playing professionally for more than twenty years, leading several bands and playing with such well-known names as The Diamonds, Bobbie Vinton, and the Drifters, as well as with local artists such as Dave Cook, Pete Pancrazi, Alice Tatum, Dennis Rowland, Renee Patrick, Paul McDermand, and her own groups, Jazz Con Alma and Novo Mundo.
Steven Powell is a singer/songwriter, a percussionist, and a producer. He has shared the stage with artist such as Lee Greenwood, Montel Jordan, Jazz Great Dennis Rowland, and more. Known for his dynamic performances of the National Anthem around the country, he garnered over 56M views of one of his anthem performances during an Arizona Cardinals game. His talents also extend far beyond that as a soulful jazz, R & B and pop singer. Originally from Kansas City, Steven was a member of the US Navy for over 20 years before settling in Phoenix. He has received personal recognition from Grammy Award winning jazz legend, George Benson, and former American Idol voice coach, Debra Byrd. His smooth voice brings life to the jazz standards he loves along with pieces from artists like Stevie Wonder and Sting thrown in the mix just for fun! This is a show you will not want to miss!
